Devi Sri Prasad, Mani Sharma not for remixes

In every other movie today, there is a remix song. While a few lure audiences to the dance floor, many fail to make the mark. Taking a super hit song and remixing it seems a surefire way to make another superhit number, but if the remixed version does not impress audiences, it’s a grave injustice to the original and its composer. Many may disagree with this, but two music directors who would rather not create remixes are Devi Sri Prasad and Mani Sharma. “I don’t have anything against remixes, but I prefer trying something original. We have to keep creating new rhythms and tunes without relying on already existing ones. Moreover, if the remix is not a hit, it’s almost an insult to the original piece of work,” opines Devi Sri Prasad. “Honestly speaking, I do not enjoy making remixes. Using the lyrics is ok, but going for the exact same tune is not my style. You can see that with my remix version of 'Vasantha Mullai' in Pokiri,” asserts Mani Sharma. While these two top music are averse to remixes, we have Sabesh Murail who decided to use the song 'Aayiram Thamari' from Alaigal Oivadhillai, with little or no changes in the recent movie Vaigai! Each ia welcome to his own opinion...
