Ranbir buys his dream vehicle

When he was in school, he wanted a cycle. When he was in college, he wanted a bike. While Ranbir Kapoor’s father Rishi was okay with it, his mother Neetu was not. As a protective mom, she was naturally concerned about the hazards of her son riding in the crazy Mumbai traffic.

Explaining Neetu’s objection, a source very close to the family said, “Neetu always felt that it is too risky for her son to drive a two-wheeler on the congested roads of Mumbai. Mumbai roads are always dug up, which makes it an even more risky affair.”

Neetu apparently tried reasoning with Ranbir saying that since he has a car, why does he need a bike? But Ranbir refused to give in. Whenever he got an opportunity, he used to coax Neetu to let him buy a bike or cycle.

Using every trick in the book to convince Neetu, late last year, he finally bought a cycle. Apparently, Neetu relented. “Ranbir would never disobey Neetu or Rishi,” said the source.

“Ranbir has bought a hi-tech cycle of foreign make. He has ridden it, but only for a few days before he left for the US to shoot for Anjaana Anjaani,” revealed the source.

And what happened to his Segway obsession, we asked? “That’s very much there. But the cycle is something that he wanted for a very, very long time. Since he owns one now after so many years of wanting it, he will definitely make the most of it after he comes back from the US. He’s very possessive about the bike and very finicky about its maintenance.”

Neetu, who seems to have made peace with her son’s decision, said, “Yes, Ranbir now has a cycle which he rides in Bandra early in the morning. He is very happy with it, and I guess it is good exercise for him too.”

Perhaps the bike, which has been on his wish list, will materialise soon as well ?
