Asin had a bad experience on the sets of her film shooting ’Kaavalkaran’ in Karaikudi. when there was a gas leak in her vanity van, which makes the actress herself became breathlessness.
Reportedly Asin, her make-up man and hairdresser were hospitalized after the incident. They were treated there, and discharged soon. Fortunately, there were no serious health problems.
As per the sources she and the rest of the crew are absolutely fine now and have already resumed shooting.
Abhishek Bachhan and Ash starrer movie under the direction of Manirathnam "Raavan" first look was officially released today. A trailor with 40 second duration has been released to give people a sense of the movie before its audio launch on April 24.
The trailer shows Abhishek Bachchan taking a dive from the top of a cliff into a river and then riding a bike. Ash is shown emerging from the river.
The Tamil and Telugu trailers of the film will be released close to the film’s music release.
Rajnikant was speaking on one of the costliest films to be made in India - with a budget of over Rs 125 crore - after he had visited Chief Minister K Karunanidhi Thursday to thank him for attending the engagement ceremony of Rajnikant’s second daughter Soundarya with industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar.
ROBOT is directed by Shankar and according to the him more than 90 percent of the movie is complete. AR Rahman has composed the music for the film.
Young music composer Thaman Sai is on cloud nine for two reasons. One, he will soon be joining the big league. He’ll be part of the Kamal Haasan-KS Ravikumar-Udhayanidhi combo for their comedy caper Yaavarum Kelir. Second, his recent album Mun Dhinam Partheney is a hit and two of the songs are already chartbusters. The movie, produced by Seventh Channel, has newcomers Sanjay, Ekta, Lizna and Pooja in the lead.
Though Thaman isn’t too forthcoming about Kamal’s project, he is delighted that Mun Dhinam… is receiving accolades from Tollywood too. “I was thrilled when ace music director Devi Sri Prasad called and said he thought the MDP songs were fresh and peppy. He told me, ‘I appreciate your guts in scoring for an experimental film like MDP and you’ve done it with conviction,’” disclosed an excited Thaman.
He went on to discuss the most challenging number in the film. “Director Magizh Thirumeni wanted Saral Pudhu Saral to have a jazzy effect. Unless you know to handle jazz, it can become messy. What made it tough was that I had to walk a tightrope by mixing and matching western music with Tamil lyrics!”
It’s being said that Kamal thought of Thaman for his film after listening to his Tamil and Telugu output.
Many expect the team to deliver another hit on the lines of Ghajini. Sources close to the film’s unit disclose that Ravi K Chandran will be the cameraman for the project, the work on which is to begin in April this year.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is also producing another movie starring Kamal Haasan and Trisha, is to produce this film.
Tamil hero Simbu, who was all set to play the lead role in ‘Ayan’ fame K.V. Anand’s next film ‘Ko’ and was to leave for the People’s Republic of China for shooting, has pulled out of the film on his own at the very last minute. The reason given is that Simbu is not so impressed by the replacement of heroine Tamannaah by newcomer Karthika, who happens to be the daughter of yesteryear’s heroine Radha.
Though Simbu and Anand have been giving separate reasons for Simbu opting out of the film, it is said that Simbu took the decision to stay away from the film as the script, which reportedly had political overtones, demanded him to appear in various get-ups including that of a old man’s role. Simbu probably felt that he had a long way to go before attempting such roles and excused himself from the film, it is reported.
The talented Jeeva, whose career has been on the upswing for the past couple of years, has now been roped in as Simbu’s replacement. After a simple pooja , the ‘Ko’ Unit is scheduled to leave for China today to shoot a couple of songs first.
Mani Rathnam is a known perfectionist and it came as no surprise to industry wallahs when the director decided to reshoot portions of Raavan. A source said, "Mani watched the final version of Raavan recently and was not happy with the way a few scenes shaped up.
He wanted to reshoot them. "The scenes were reshot in Polachi and the schedule was completed in four days flat," adds the source. Mani is now happy with the final product
Trisha was earlier said to star in Kamal’s mammoth project Marmayogi which was later shelved owing to financial reasons. For Marmayogi, Trisha also reportedly learnt to play the Tamil martial art Silambam, apart from taking a course on the pronunciation of ancient Tamil.

K Balachander, the director who has an uncanny knack of creating stars, first met Rajnikant at the film institute, where he was a student.
Balachander glanced at the dark young man and crisply asked him to meet him in his office the next day. When Rajnikant walked into his office gingerly, Balachander informed him he was going to act in his next film. Overwhelmed by the unexpected offer from a big director, Rajnikant just could not believe his ears. Later, Balachander confided in his close friend and associate Ananthu, "There is a fire in the young man's eyes. One day he will take Tamil Nadu by storm." How true the prediction turned out! Kamal Hassan has the distinction of being the actor with the most number of films submitted by India in contest for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Divya Spandana is considered to be the `golden girl' in the Kannada film industry as she has the success rate of close to 90 per cent in her career. Her luck, however, did not follow her to Tamil cinema, where her first film Kuthu bombed at the box office. Bangarada Manushya (1970) is the first Kannada film to have run for over two years, at the State Theatre in Bangalore. Kishan Shrikanth, aged nine is the youngest director in the world to have directed a movie. He directed the Kannada film C/o Footpath, about an orphaned boy.
In June 2006, Malayalam cinema made history with the release of its first-ever digital film, Moonnamathoral. While the digital format may not be new in the film world, what the distributors of this movie did different was to beam the film through satellite into the smaller and more distant theatres in the state. Mohanlal's 2008 film Akashagopuram, directed by P Kumaran was the most expensive Malayalam film ever, budgeted at about Rs 10 crore. The film, which was shot entirely in London, is adapted from Henrik Ibsen's play The Master Builder. Despite all the hype, however, the film played for barely two weeks in halls. Chemmeen (1965) directed by Ramu Karyat was the first South Indian film to bag the President's Golden Lotus Award for the best film. It is based on the famous novel of the same name by Malayalam writer Takazhi Shivashanakara Pillai. Actor Mohanlal has singlehandedly distributed more films in his home state of Kerala than the NFDC did.
These are usually films belonging to the parallel cinema genre, such as Santosh Sivan's The Terrorist.
It took the permission of the home minister, P. Chidambaram, to help Rajnikanth shoot an action sequence for his film Endhiran, directed by Shankar, also starring Aishwarya Rai.
Rajni was to shoot the sequence in Lonavla on the train in the famous railway heritage corridor. But the location they picked was a restricted one where shooting wasn’t allowed. No filmmaker was able to procure permission to shoot there.
Shankar, Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai however, pulled some strings and special permission was procured from the minister, P. Chidambaram. Peter Heinz choreographed the action sequence, which was shot on the train.
Incidentally, a portion of the film Johnny Gaddaar, too was to be canned at the same location, but due to lack of permission, the shoot had to be cancelled.(DC)

Luck surely favors the brave.
Jumping off burning trains, dangerous stunts and no body doubles, a stunning debut packed with adrenaline. Add to it oomph, determination and defiance. Luck has indeed favored the brave and the beautiful Shruti Hassan! Versatile. Singer, actor, music maker... Bollywood's latest offering makes a rather unconventional beginning on the silver screen.
"But I honestly don't know how to define unconventional," confesses a mildly bemused Shruti. We get the impression she's been told this by way too many people that she's playing a `different' sort of role in her first film. More so because she was all set to do a Tamil film with Madhavan that never took off. "Aren't most debutante actors these days making unconventional beginnings? The perfect formula of romance, comedy and drama to launch a new actor has really changed over the years. The only thing that mattered to me was that my role in Luck fitted with what I was excited to do and I took it up.
It's as simple as that."
Simple? She's got to be joking. In the scene where the entire cast had to jump off a train on fire, Shruti not only sent the body double away but also motivated Mithun da to do it! "Imran singed his eye lashes and I ended up with the kind of nicks and cuts that my dad really thought I've been in a duel with a mountain lion! But it was the most exciting thing I've ever done," she recalls.
Talk to her about southern cinema and it's like catching her at home. "I would be very happy doing southern films sometime in the future. Especially in Tamil." And Hollywood? "Well, why not?
These days the world is so globalized that Hollywood doesn't seem as far fetched as it was a few years ago." Truly global as she is, Shruti is also quite grounded in her Tamil roots. "Growing up in Chennai has been a blessing. Chennai is a culturally rooted city where learning is of utmost importance with discipline and this has been of great value for me. Also there are so many talented musicians I've met there who have helped widen my musical perspectives. I'm very proud of being a Tamil girl."
And Daddy's girl too. "You bet! What I've emulated the most from him is his sense of commitment and living life on your own terms. He's always made me realise that I owe answers only to myself and nobody else."
We also hear he's the only man in her life at the moment. She's got a tattoo somewhere between the nape and shoulder blade, but it's no proclamation of undying love for a man here. It's her own name in Tamil.
From love we move to attachments. And here comes, Akshara, Shruti's younger sister who's a Ballroom Latin dancer.
"Guess what, she's younger and yet she keeps throwing dance moves at me and I have no choice but to learn them!" We went on to ask (hesitantly though) about how her parents' divorce has affected her and expected awkward pauses. Instead, we heard Shruti say this: "My parents' divorce didn't impact me much. I'm still what I have always been.
Their separation was their choice. My choices impact me the most," she smiles that infectious smile.
However, when contacted, Gauthami said, “I can’t think of such things. I have a long way to go and prove myself in film making. And that too KB sir? I can’t even imagine it!” Madhavan is said to be playing the central character in the untitled movie and Shruthi Hassan is said to be composing the tracks for the film.
