Nag's heroine speaks about life, marriage

Marriage has brought a lot of new things into actor Ayesha Takia (Nag's heroine  in Super movie) ’s life. You can neither discount the glow it has brought to her face nor the questions that have cropped up regarding her career. Amid talks of her multi-tasking as wife of res taurateur Farhan Azmi (son of politician Abu Azmi), whom she is helping set up a café in Goa, and as an aspiring fashion designer, she reiterates that the actor in her will never die. “I’d like to say it aloud that my career has not come to an end. I am not going anywhere. I am going to do films,” she says.
Her movie Wanted with Salman Khan (directed by Prabhu Deva) releases today. Wanted is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film Pokiri , (Pokkiri in Tamil). Ayesha plays Jahnvi, a simple yet modern girl whose life becomes a rollercoaster ride after she meets Radhe (Salman Khan’s character) and falls in love with him. “It’s one of those characters that are essentially glam but along with that there is such a great scope for acting, it’s unbelievable,” she says of her role, the kind she had been waiting to lay her hands on.
The actor is very excited about working with both Salman and Prabhu Deva. “Prabhu Deva is an amazing director. Even though he does not speak Hindi, he makes sure that the scene comes across to you. One glance at his face and you’ll understand whether you have performed according to his expectations or not,” she explains. When Ayesha signed the film, Asin (who was in Tamil Pokkiri) was not a known name in Bollywood, but post-Ghajini the scene has changed. It’s not a very thrilling prospect to face the inevitable comparison between the two performances. “I have watched both the earlier films and I’m okay with the comparisons. I knew that in this film I was getting to work with Salman. I was going to do my job well. That’s all that matters for me,” she says.
While she keeps reiterating that she has not quit working, truth is that she is not doing anything apart from Paathshaala with Shahid Kapoor in which she has a very limited role as it is mainly shot with child artistes. Till recently there was a huge question mark over her being a part of Revathi’s film Aap Ke Liye Hum with Jaya Bachchan and Madhavan. But she pooh-poohs the rumours. “There was speculation over availability of dates when Revathi had to undergo knee surgery but I am pretty much part of the story even now,” she clarifies.
The self-confessed Shah Rukh Khan fan, who’d readily sign an SRK film, is clearly enjoying life post-marriage. Ask her about working options for women after tying the knot as opposed to the red carpet welcome 40-plus and much-married actors get and she resignedly says, “Men require less nips and tucks, I guess. They getaway with being married and yet wooing others. I keep telling Farhan too that he will look better at 40 than he does at 27,” she says, laughing away her concerns.
