The BMW is slowly becoming a favourite among Kollywood stars. First it was Rambha who received a luxurious BMW 7 series from a Canadian company for which she’s the brand ambassador. The latest recipient of these snazzy wheels is actress Lakshmi Rai. But Lakshmi wasn’t as surprised by her new BMW as Rambha was.
She explains, “It was a birthday gift from my dad. I absolutely love the car and owning this BMW is a dream come true for me. I’ve been waiting for the past three years to own one,” she says.
The car in question is the executive, fifth of the new car series from BMW. This actress’ car has a Maharashtra registration and she had to wait six months to receive the car after booking it. “My birthday is on May 5 and we made a booking for the car on May 2, but there were some issues with the delivery and that’s why it got delayed for so long. I was keen on getting only a top-end model and that’s why I didn’t mind the long wait,” she says. However the car’s Maharashtra registration plate has given rise to a lot of speculation, which Lakshmi dismissed as ‘rumours’.
Meanwhile, one hears that this actress, who has recently moved to Mumbai, has also bought herself an apartment in the city which is reported to be worth Rs 4.5 crores.(DC)
Veteran comedienne Manorama recently underwent a knee surgery in a private hospital in Chennai. Before the surgery, she was put under anesthesia. Unfortunately, the actress did not regain consciousness even after several hours. The doctors have admitted her to the intensive care unit and are monitoring her condition.
It is worth a mention here that Manorama went to Kerala a couple of months ago to try the traditional medicine but returned as it did not produce the desired results.

What is amazing is how the disciplined actor, who is a vegetarian, took on the extraordinary task of building his dream body.
For a year, Shahid altered his lifestyle completely. First he went completely low on sugar and gradually introduced himself to slow-acting carbohydrates. Oats and brown rice became a regular at his dining table. Today, it’s rare to shoot with these large numbers, but director Anil Sharma felt it was a must to have larger than life sets, real locations with real animals, props etc. Art director Sanjay Dhabade has done an excellent job.

It was an evening of nostalgia and poetry for the Bachchan family on the occasion of Harishvansh Rai Bachchan’s 102nd birth anniversary. The event was marked with the launch of Harivansh Rai’s most famous creations Madhushala in English.
Whether it was the Big B lending his voice to the recital of certain select poems or Namrata Bachchan creating the illustrations in the book, Madhushala, the house of wine, was truly a family effort.
Terming the whole experience as wonderful as ever, Amitabh Bachchan
says, "I recited poems from the book and all the family members lent support to me."
While talking about the launch, Abhishek Bachchan says, "It was wonderful that my cousin Namrata has illustrated Madhushala as well. It’s wonderful to get the third generations of Bachchans to contribute to this great poem."

Pawan Kalyan is currently shooting in dubai for PULI’s songs and will return to india in december after completing 2 duets abroad.
Last song will be shot on sets in hyderabad.
Before the unit left abroad, pawan completed some patch work in hyderabad and during that shoot he could not work all day due to his lower back pain.
Pawan was seen in constant pain and he even wondered if he developed stones in kidney which might have come to him hereditarily from his mother.
He will undergo a checkup abroad after songs are shot and will return to india only after some rest.
This is the main reason why PULI got postponed to february 2010 release.
Also, considering his health, pawan has not officially accepted Ganesh babu – Harish Shankar’s movie till date.
He will decide about it only after returning to india.
The reason behind dropping surender reddy’s Mr.Perfect script is that pawan liked the story initially but was not satisfied with surender’s narration of screenplay later.
He felt surender cannot handle this subject according to his image effectively and also surender demanded Rs.7 crores as his remuneration, which pawan felt he doesn’t deserve that much for his low level skills.

According to sources, the actor Ram Charan doing a new movie and he has accepted director Dharani’s proposal and the director is currently working on the script. Shooting is expected to begin after Ram Charan Teja completes his ongoing Orange, being directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar.
Producer D Siva Prasad Reddy informed that the current schedule will be ended by November 30th. The next schedule will be filming of a song in Greece from December 3 to 10 followed by the climax scenes and a song with which the shooting will be completed. The film is said to be revolving around the theme of Cards and Nagarjuna plays the role of a con. It will be released in the second week of January, 2010. Music is composed by Sandeep Chowta.
Young rebel star Prabhas next movie after ’Ek Niranjan’ is Darling with Kajal is in progress presently. According to the tinsel town buzz, Dil Raju after ’Josh’ debacle at box office is very keen on this project. Even Prabhas and Dasarath haven’t tasted much success with their recent ventures. So these two are putting more efforts on this movie to make it success.
Producer-director Puri Jagannath’s upcoming Gopichand movie Golimar will start the shooting from next month. Produced by the director himself under the banner of Vaishno Academy. After ’Ek Niranjan’movie bombed at the box office Puri Jagannadh putting more effort in this movie to prove his talent in a big way. In his 15-film career, Navdeep has had to deal with more flops than hits, but the actor is not one to give up. the 24-year-old who has been missing in action, is all set to make a Tollywood comeback and has three films slated for a back-to-back release.
Despite making waves in the Tamil film industry with Arinthum Ariyamalum, Navdeep, who was last seen in a small cameo in Ready, says he is keen on moulding his Tollywood career again. “In the last two years, I did three Tamil films and have also been shooting for Arya-2. This is probably why my fans didn’t get to see much of me. Also, my previous Tollywood movies didn’t do well and I was waiting for something interesting,” he says.
Out from a “hibernation” of sorts, Navdeep is treading cautiously in the industry now. “While I enjoy working in both the industries, Tollywood is where I feel at home. But when I choose films here, I’m extra careful, since the Telugu film industry is more image conscious and hero-centric,” he adds.
The young actor also admits that his no-show at the box office is because of a few “obligatory” movies he did. “I used to oblige friends who approached me with requests and most of them bombed. But now I’ve learnt not to yield to pressure,” says Navdeep, who is now helping his brother find his footing in the film industry. “I help Parthu get in touch with the right people, but nothing beyond that,” he clarifies.
For an actor keen to make his mark in Tollywood, Navdeep is conspicuous by his absence at most filmy dos. “I prefer staying away from filmy bashes. I don’t like to be in a place where all film stars do is talk about movies. I don’t think they live in the real world, which is why I prefer staying away,” he says.
“We’re still discussing things,” she says, “Indran Padmanathan (owner of the company that has signed her as its brand ambassador) has indeed popped the question, but I haven’t made my decision yet.”
The news is that both sides will meet soon and take a decision on the marriage. Meanwhile, Rambha has put a firm end to rumours of anything happening soon. “The news that I’m getting married in December isn’t true,” she clarifies, “One of my cousins is getting married and that’s the only reason that a marriage hall has been booked in my name.”
On the film front, she’s finished work on Vidiyum Varai Kathiru, which is under post-production now. And, she’s also eagerly looking forward to a sequel to Quick Gun Murugun. “Yes, when a sequel happens, I’ll surely be a part of it,” she states cheerfully.(TNN)

Ace cinematographer and producer S Venkata Ratnam died at his residence in Vijayawada on Thursday. He had one son but passed away few years back due to kidney failure.S Venkata Ratnam became more popular as a producer of ‘Yamagola’ starring NT Rama Rao and Jayapradha in 1975. The cameraman who later turned producer, also produced films like ‘Andharu Dongale’ and ‘Iddaru Iddare’ with the association of Jagapathi banner.
Aamir Khan, who is currently busy promoting "3 Idiots", has decided not to take any new acting assignments in 2010 because he wants to concentrate on his three home productions.
"Aamir had earlier decided to take one year off. But now he has decided to extend his sabbatical by one more year. Filmmakers who have approached him with projects have been told that Aamir intends to take approximately one more year to supervise the post-production and final look of his three films," said a source close to the actor.
He wants put his home productions — Abhinay Deo’s Delhi Belly, Anushka Rizvi’s The Falling and his wife Kiran Rao’s directorial debut Dhobi Ghat — in order.
After the tough physical and emotional preparation for Ghajini, Aamir had decided to take one full year off to rejuvenate himself.
He also wanted to relax and spend time with his wife and children. That’s precisely what he has done for the last one year. But now Aamir would be taking one more year off because he feels all three projects need serious fine-tuning and have been delayed because he has been busy finishing and promoting director Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots.
"The only way Aamir feels his three productions can be completed and released in 2010 is if he sets aside all his own acting assignments to look into them. So, he isn’t signing any films in 2010 either," said the source

Jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali is on her first-ever trip to Chennai. The gorgeous lady who has designed stunning pieces for Bollywood biggies like Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone and her brother-in-law Hrithik Roshan, is holding her first exhibition down south, at Studio Saks.
“It’s a rocking city, and I’m pleasantly surprised by how nice the people are,” says Farah, adding, “I feel Chennai is very similar to Mumbai in many ways.”
Farah says she’s had a hectic year, starting with the IIFA awards in Macau, for which she designed the jewellery for over 10 actors, followed by designing jewellery for the hit reality show Rakhi ka Swayamvar. “The reality show was a completely different experience for me, and the show’s popularity was way beyond my expectations.”
Right now, she’s concentrating on her exhibition in Chennai, and also on expanding her market in the southern states. “And it’s been wonderful meeting many new clients in the city. I also met actor Khushboo after many years — we’re old friends and I really like the way she carries herself. Also, I’m waiting to hit the beaches in the city, and go sightseeing around here.”
Are there any actors down south whom she’d like to work with? “Rajinikanth of course, as he’s an icon. Also, if I get some jewellery projects for Kollywood films, I’d love to take them up.”
Farah believes that her career is important to her, but not more than her family. “My sister Suzanne is my favourite muse, and she’s also the brand ambassador for my jewellery line. Hrithik and I get along very well, considering both of us are Capricornians,” she laughs. “Jokes aside, we both are very practical and both of us believe in the ‘do it well, or don’t do it at all’ mantra.”
“Our work is such that I have to be out in the morning and my husband (DJ) Aqeel goes out at night. That’s why we make it a point to take four days off every month, where we go to exotic locales for a romantic getaway,” says Farah.
“But my kids are the ones who are most important to me,” she adds. “I work my schedule around theirs and ensure that I don’t take up too much work during their school vacations.”(DC)

After her effervescent laughter finally subsides, Shilpa says soberly, “The wedding was very traditional and simple. I felt I was going through a dream. My marriage was exactly the way I had imagined it.” The Kundras will now leave for their honeymoon, followed by a Mediterranean cruise for the entire family. Says Shilpa happily, “We’re going to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. Then after we return, Raj is taking our entire family, all the Shettys and the Kundras, on a Mediterranean cruise for Christmas. He thought everyone needed a break.”
And where does Mrs Kundra plan to live now, Mumbai, or London? “I have to get acquainted with Raj’s circle of friends in London, get used to socialising with them.Yes, we’ll have two homes now. In any case, I was always travelling to and fro. Now I’ll be doing this even more! I have my film-production company in Mumbai. So I can’t be in London only.”

Ramcharan has thrown an open offer to directors that he is interested in making of a sequel for his dad’s superhit movie Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari, which was a socio-fantasy movie also starring Sridevi.
Already Vyjayanthi Movies owner Aswini Dutt has expressed his intention to make a sequel for that movie with latest starcast and storyline would be about the son on chiru-sridevi born after first part and how he falls in love with an angel after he grows up and how will he be with supernatural powers from his mother and skills from his father.
Now ramcharan has declared that any director who comes with a convincing script will be given chance to direct the movie.
Tamil director Dharani is also planning a socio-fantasy story with hero having supernatural powers in it.

Ramcharan’s 4th movie is planned with tamil director Dharani, who earlier made Bangaaram with Pawan Kalyan.
Dharani has narrated the script to Chiranjeevi and Charan and is awaiting their decision.
If it is finalised, then it will go on floors immediately after Charan completes his work with Bhasker’s Orange.
Dharani’s movie story is about a superhero with fantasy treatment like Krrish, Superman, Spiderman etc.
Charan already okayed the story but is yet to listen to final version of script.
Heroine Nikesha Patel spoke to media about the movie, her role and her experiences working with Pawan Kalyan.
” I play an independent woman who takes care of herself and is also a police officer.
I do lot of comedy in this movie. Pawan helped me a lot and i learned lot from him.
It shows his experience in handling new people.

Allu Arjun’s latest movie Arya 2 is all set to release on 27 November. Allu Arjun, sukumar, Bhogavally Prasad and Aditya Babu arranged a press meet to announce the same.
Allu Arjun said, “Censoring of the movie is complete. The music guys are saying that Arya 2 music is a big hit. Amalapuram song was a huge chartbuster in Arya film. And Devi Prasad is giving another big chartbuster in the form of Ringa Ringa. This movie is a 200% Sukumar’s movie. I am very confident of the success. I am eagerly waiting for 27 November and looking forward to the trend it is going to create. We are dedicating it to Michael Jackson.”

The Vaaranam Aayiram star had a complaint to make at the audio launch of Paiyaa, which was held at a city multiplex recently. “Karthi grew a beard for Paruthiveeran and his performance in that film was better than what I had done in the industry for almost ten years,” he said, “And, just when I thought I could do some films and be successful, here he is — with Paiyaa — and treading into my territory!”
Going by the trailer and the songs that were screened, Karthi certainly seems to be doing that. “I’m grateful to Lingusamy for giving me such a huge opportunity,” he said, “He’s made me look handsome in the film, something that I was craving for, post the rugged look in Paruthiveeran.” Music for the film, which has Tamannaah playing the female lead, is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. “I don’t speak a lot at functions,” said the shy composer, “I prefer my music to speak instead.”(TNN)
After all, her mother Radha and maternal aunt Ambika were acclaimed southern actresses just a couple of decades ago. “I’m a trained Kathak dancer and dancing interests me. Movie offers had been coming to me since I finished class 10 a couple of years ago. People wanted to see actress Radha’s daughter on screen, but we didn’t follow up on the offers,” explains the 17-year-old.
But when an offer to team up with debutant Nag Chaitanya came along, things changed. “Given that Josh was Nag’s launch vehicle, I knew I wouldn’t have much to do in the film.
But I’ve been brought up to believe that it is not quantity but quality that matters. I loved what I did and have no regrets about the film,” says Karthika.
Strangely, the young actress has followed up this unimpressive start with an art house film, Makara Manju. And it’s the quality of the subject that drove her to take it up, she says. “It’s directed by acclaimed art house director Lenin Rajendran, stars noted cinematographer-director Santosh Sivan in the lead and has Madhu Ambat handling the camera. It may be made for film festivals, but this is the best start I could get for a career in Malayalam cinema, and I’m glad it has happened very early in my career,” she asserts.
Makara Manju, Karthika explains, is not a biopic on artist Raja Ravi Varma. “The film deals with only a segment of his life, the timeline being when he was painting ‘Urvashi-Pururavasu’. I play two characters: the artist’s muse for the painting and Urvashi,” elaborates Karthika.
Although Makara Manju is to be dubbed in Hindi and English, isn’t she worried that Ketan Mehta’s Rang Rasiya, also based on Varma’s life, will steal their thunder? “I don’t think Rang Rasiya will affect us in any way. It is a much bigger production and talks about Raja Ravi Varma’s life in detail, while ours is a small, yet beautiful film that will stand out on its own,” she says. Unlike Rang Rasiya’s female lead Nandana Sen, skin show is not Karthika’s plan for the film. Makara Manju will be sensual, but not sexual,” she winds up.(TNN)
One of Tollywood’s youngest producers, S Aditya Babu, who produced his first movie Jagadam at the age of 21 is turning hero with Chalaki. The shooting of the movie is almost complete and it is ready for a Sankranti release. Aditya who has worked hard for the movie, says he is hopeful the movie will be liked by one and all. Incidentally, Aditya is also the producer of the forthcoming movie Arya 2 starring Allu Arjun.

The lady will be donning the greasepaint for the mega serial titled Abirami that will be aired in Kalaignar TV in Tamilnadu. The inaugural function of Abirami took place at the Abirami Mega Mall in Chennai. Kamal Haasan was the chief guest at the event. Ram Charan Teja launched the latest issue of PEOPLE MAGAZINE, featuring him on the cover, at Landmark Bookstore, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad today. Following unveiling, Charan interacted with the media and talked about his interview with PEOPLE.

Director Sreenu Vytla is busy now with the his latest movie Namo Venkatesa with hero Venkatesh.According to film nagar sources, a story is getting canned keeping in mind Pavan Kalyan and its heard that Sreenu Vytla feels that Pavan Kalyan is the best choice for that story.
Director shankar always does a big budget projects and he is certainly one of the untouched directors of Indian cinema. He is directing a Rajinikanth’s upcoming science-fiction ‘Endhiran’ (Robot in Telugu), which was thought to be made at a budget of about Rs 100 crore, seems to cost much more than estimated. It is said that the film may now exceed a massive budget of Rs 165 crore. This is undoubtedly the highest budget film ever made in the Indian cinema. The buzz is that the cost of one particular song in the film had reached Rs 30 crore.
‘Robot’ has south Indian superstar Rajinikanth romancing former miss world Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Action king Arjun is said to play a key role in the film. J D Chakravarthy is playing the role of the villain for this magnum opus. The film is set for 2010 release. The films background score and music is composed by Oscar award winner A R Rahman.
