Vikram had to take a break from Mani Ratnam’s Raavan shooting which was going on near Mumbai to go to Ladakh in India’s northern most part for the shoot of his new Selvaraghavan film.
 
On Diwali day (Oct 17) he woke up in his hotel room in Leh with a call from his children Akshitha and Dhruv to wish him on the auspicious day. When he asked them about their Diwali plans, they told him that this year there will be no Diwali celebrations as dad is not there!
 
Vikram who is normally the “master of ceremonies at family Diwali gatherings where crackers are burst” was emotionally moved on hearing his children’s decision.
 
Immediately, he asked Selva for a day off to celebrate Diwali, and took the next flight to Chennai via Delhi and was home at Besant Nagar by noon.
 
He was able to give his family a surprise and they were overjoyed on seeing him. Hearing news that Vikram is back in Chennai for a few hours, friends started dropping in and by evening the Diwali celebrations started in full swing.
 
However by late night, Vikram had to catch a flight to Delhi, wait in the airport for a few hours and then take the early morning flight back to Leh where Selva and the unit were waiting for him. The star commitment to his work at the same time his dedication and deep love for his family came across.(Sify)
